Description

ECG stands for Electrocardiogram, which is a medical test used to record the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time. Itnvolves attaching electrodes to the skin in specific locations on the chest, arms, and legs to detect and measure the electrical impulses generated by the heart as it contracts and pumps blood. ECGs are essential diagnostic tools for assessing various heart conditions, including arrhythmias, ischemia, myocardial infarctions (heart attacks), and other cardiac abnormalities. The resulting graph, known as an ECG or EKG (from the German term “Elektrokardiogramm”), displays the heart’s electrical patterns and helps healthcare professionals diagnose and manage cardiovascular disorders.
